Do you know what’s the biggest agony in a foodie’s life is? confused

It’s either being overweight, or the fear of gaining weight!


Even if you are not a foodie, the thought to go plump will keep distressing you. Why?? It may be simply because you just can’t get your mind off that old pair of macho/sexy denim or maybe because you want to impress that cute guy/girl next door, or just because you want to stay in good shape. You better ask your conscious self! Regardless of whatever the reasons are, I don’t know why some find the weight off-loading process no less than a rocket science. Just take in fewer calories and burn excess calories; it’s as simple as that. Isn’t it?


I still remember, back once a very good “overweight” friend of mine asked me innocently “Savi, isn’t there some machine that can shed off our extra fat within minutes”.

To which I replied sarcastically “indeed there are such machines, and that setting is called a gym”. dontcare

“Ya… but that take time, which I am always short of” she shrugged her shoulders with a dispiriting expression.

No matter how much we are preached about leading a disciplined life, but in today’s fast paced scenario it’s very likely that we deviate from our newly founded resolutions in no time. I won’t be surprised if you say ‘I am always out of time…’ or ‘I am too occupied…’, but who would you blame? Neither feeling guilty will help, nor pinning it to your busy schedule.

Few days back, I was working on content for a fitness related website when I found some videos and treatises on obesity. I dug further and found some hacks which can be easily applied to check on your swelling belly, despite your busy lifestyle. However, the tricks I am about to mention are nothing sort of surprisingly new, I still believe my readers will find it helpful.  

>>> Don’t just try to avoid; AVOID eat

What’s the first thing you are told when you express your desire to drop few kilos? Take in few calories. Well, that’s true. The path to ‘lean you’ goes through eluding extra calories or ‘bad calories’ to be more precise. Now here lies the problem; junk food is hard to resist, but you have to anyhow. If you keep focusing on things you can’t do, chances are you won’t do them. For example, if you keep telling yourself to avoid chocolate pastry after dinner, you may actually end up savoring it. So they best way out is to divert your attention and repeat positive thoughts. “I don’t need any dessert” or “I will lead a healthy life”. Repeat the phrases and before too long, they will become true for you.

>>> Stick to water

If you have not bunked biology classes in high school, you don’t need me to tell the importance of water for human body. And for God’s sake, stop consuming soft drinks, energy drinks, and other sugary drinks (I just edified you to keep away from excess calories, remember?). You can have fruit juice instead, but there is no substitute for water. It has null calories, and boosts metabolism.


>>> Eat three less bites

This may sound funny, but three bites of your meals can add up to 200 calories every day. And that alone is enough to make you gain or lose sizable mass each year.

>>> While eating, stare at blue color sweat 

It’s certitude. You won’t find many restaurants decorated in blue, and there’s is a good scientific reason behind this. Blue color functions as an appetite suppressant. Conversely; red, yellow, and orange cheers eating.  So avoid bright colors in your dining area and encourage blue. Serve up dinner on blue plates, cover your table with a blue tablecloth, or dress in blue while you eat.

>>> Eat in front of a mirror to lose weight

No, it will not jinx your rotundness, but is pure logic instead. If you look at yourself in the mirror while eating, it’ll reflect your standards, and will remind you that you are trying to lose weight in the first place.

>>> Try using small plates

The more food in front of you, the more you’ll eat – regardless of how hungry you are. This is a common psychology. So, it would be better if you serve your main course on salad plates (about 7 to 9 inches wide), instead of regular serving plates which are generally 12 to 14 inches in width.

>>>  Get rid of your “fat” cloths for good

This will definitely prevent you from putting flesh again. Once you start losing weight, give away or throw out every piece of clothing that doesn’t fits you anymore. The thought of having to buy a whole new wardrobe if you swell back will persuade you to stay in shape.

However, it should to be noted that these tricks alone won’t shed your weight; these are only add-ons which will only help you to the purpose. You need to combine them with regular weight loss programs. Some people still hope to discover easy ways to slenderize fast. Well, there are some; but they may not be healthy.

Remember, the best way to shed out – is to sweat out!
